Jane Eleanor Lowden Williamson passed away at home at the age of 78, after a prolonged pulmonary illness on August 21, 2012. Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister was born January 23, 1934 in East Meadow, Long Island, New York. Her father was Walter Weeks Lowden Sr., and her mother was Eleanor Kelly Lowden. Her father died when Jane was only 9 years old. Her older brother, Richard (Dick) Murray Lowden from Bradenton Florida, is deceased. Jane holds an Associate's degree in Art from Cazenovia College, Cazenovia, NY. After college, Jane worked at Adelphi University on Long Island, as a member of the library staff. Jane met her husband David, who was stationed at Mitchell Air Force base in New York, through the young singles group at Hempstead Methodist Church on Long Island. Jane married James David (David) Williamson Sr. on November 5, 1955 in Atlanta, Georgia, and the newlyweds settled into their new life in Atlanta. Jane worked at the Federal Reserve Bank and Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta before beginning to raise her family. They bought their first home in Decatur in 1958. In 1967, the family moved to the Smoke Rise area of DeKalb Co. Jane was a charter member of the Smoke Rise Garden Club. She was in the club for over 25 years, serving in various posts, including a term as president. She volunteered at Smoke Rise Elementary in Special Education classrooms and DeKalb General Hospital. Jane has been a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tucker, and the Christian Friendship Sunday School class there, for 44 years. She also taught children's Sunday school. She has traveled with her husband to Holland, Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany, France, Austria, Italy, England, Scotland, Switzerland, Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, and Alaska. In 1988, David and Jane bought a second home in northeast Georgia. Jane loved to garden there, as well as have her family and grandchildren come to visit, especially at Thanksgiving. She was an active stay home parent and grandparent. Jane is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 56 years, David Williamson, her son James (Jimmy) David Williamson Jr., daughter-in-law Tammy Spangler Williamson, grandchildren James David (Dave) Williamson III, Benjamin (Ben) Lowden Williamson, Samuel (Sam) Paul Williamson, daughter Kelly Jane Williamson Bonner, son-in-law Craig Bonner, grandchildren Coleman Dallas Bonner, Eleanor Jane Bonner, son Richard (Rick) Walter Williamson, daughter-in-law Tina Williamson, and grandchild Faith Williamson. Her younger brother, Walter (Wally) Weeks Lowden, Jr. resides in upstate New York with his life partner Dominick Cucinotta. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, August 23rd from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at A.S. Turner and Sons (2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur Georgia 30033, 404-292-1551).
