Jane Jenkins Stephens

October 1, 1920 — July 27, 2009

Jane Ellen Jenkins Stephens of Snellville, GA, formerly of Lilburn, GA went to be with her Lord on Monday, July 27, 2009.  Mrs. Stephens was born October 1, 1920 in Atlanta, GA and was the daughter of William Robert Jenkins, Sr. and Ella Norton Jenkins.  She graduated from Decatur High School on June 3, 1939 and married the love of her life, Tillman Stephens, that same night.  They were married for 67 happy years until his death in 2006.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her baby sister, Emily Sue Jenkins, in 1928.  She is survived by her children; Betty Ann Summerford of Snellville and Riley and Becky Stephens of Tucker; grandchildren: Cindy Stephens, Jeanne and Ashton Cary, Rilo and Wanda Stephens; great grandchildren: Stephen and John Cary, Patrick and Elizabeth Stephens; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Diane Jenkins along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Jane Ellen was an outstanding homemaker and fine Christian example to her family and friends.  She was a true helpmate to husband Tillman and a tireless worker in the community and church.  Together they helped found Lilburn Alliance Church, which first met in their home.  She remained a faithful member until her death. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 2, at 4 PM at the Lilburn Alliance Church, Pastor Fred Hartley officiating.  Interment will follow at Decatur Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Stephens had asked that memorial contributions be made to the Lilburn Alliance Church, 5915 Hwy. 29, Lilburn, GA 30047.  The family will receive visitors on Saturday, August 1 from 3-5 PM at A. S. Turner & Sons in Decatur.
