Jane Mitchell Thompson found peace in God's care on March 2, 2008 at Hospice Atlanta. Jane lived her life looking for the beauty around her. She found it in her love of art, drama, and music; her talents as a gourmet cook; her gift with all growing things; and especially in the many relationships she nurtured with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her dear son, William Mitchell Thompson, and her beloved sisters, Carolyn Mitchell Pruitt and Barbara Mitchell Disque. She is survived by her brother, William A. Mitchell, Jr., of Atlanta; her children, Catherine Thompson of Roswell, Georgia, Robert H. Thompson of Decatur, Georgia, and Allison Thompson Mebius of Bessemer, Alabama, as well as seven grandchildren and a great granddaughter. She is also mourned by an extended family to whom she reached out with grace, spirit, and love, and by many friends who knew and cherished her all her life. Jane Mitchell was born to William Alexander Mitchell and Elisabeth Locket Mitchell in Atlanta on January 17, 1930. She attended E. Rivers Elementary School, North Fulton High School, and Randolph Macon Women's College. She married William Adams Thompson on February 18, 1950. A woman of a deep and probing faith, Jane was a life long member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2461 Peachtree Rd., N.E., Atlanta, GA 30305, where services will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 11 a.m. The family will receive visitors at the church on Thursday morning before the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Donations may be made to Hospice Atlanta and Covenant Presbyterian Church.
