Janice Heeke

Janice Claire Heeke was born on her father's birthday, 3/16/1935 in Atlanta. She went home to be with her Maker the morning of 16 December 2013. She was raised in Adair Park and attended elementary school just across the street from her home. She graduated from Sylvan Hills High School in 1952. Her training as a Radiology Technician was with Piedmont Hospital when it was located on Capital Avenue in Atlanta. She married Marion Skip Heeke on 28 August 1954 at Stewart Avenue Methodist Church. She traveled the world as a proud military wife, and returned to the Atlanta area upon his retirement in 1977, making their home in Stone Mountain. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Thomas Hooks and Geneva Malone Hooks, her younger sister, Linda Hooks Godwin, and her son, Alan Clay Heeke. She is survived by her husband, Marion Skip Heeke, son, Brian Lance Heeke and family; daughter, Linda Claire Heeke Cleveland and family: daughter Lisa Carol Heeke (now Alison) Peters and family. Also surviving are six grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons on Thursday December 19 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Elynda Lipsey officiating with interment at Crest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to the funeral hour at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
