Jean Roberts Cox, 88, passed away on Wednesday November 11, 2020. A native of Atlanta and DeKalb County, she was born May 08, 1932 to Jewel Morgan Roberts and Newitt Drew Roberts, Sr. Jean was a graduate of Bass High School. After completing high school, Jean worked at Plantation Pipeline for three years. On May 16, 1953, she married John Carson Cox. They were married for 53 wonderful years. Jean was a long time member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Decatur, Georgia. Jean called the “Oak Grove Community” her home for 52 years. She and her husband John were long time members of the Graydon Class. Jean loved Christ and was devoted to her family. She truly served as an inspiration to her children, grandchildren, extended family and dear friends.
Jean is survived by her children Deborah Blackwell, Cynthia Dickens (Ed), John Carson Cox, Jr. (Karen), Laura Woth, and Holly Savage. (Jean’s youngest daughter Christy Cox is waiting for her in heaven.) Jean is also blessed with 14 wonderful grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Jean and John’s legacy lives on….A Graveside Service will be held at Westview Cemeter, Atlanta, Ga on Monday, November 16th at 2:00 p.m. The procession will start at the front gate and masks are required. For those wishing to make donations, the family requests that donations be made to Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 1722 Oak Grove Road, Decatur, GA 30033 or the charity of your choice.
