Myra Jeanette Osborn Farrar, 97 of Decatur, passed away Monday, December 31, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Thomas L. Farrar, her parents and her sisters. Survivors include her daughter, Myra F. Medlin and husband, Richard; son, Mack O. Farrar and wife, Holly; grandchildren, Justin Farrar, Adam Farrar, Matt and Jenny Medlin, and Jason and Nicole Medlin; great grandchildren, Maria Grace Medlin and Samuel Richard Medlin. Mrs. Farrar was born and lived most of her life in Avondale Estates before moving to Coventry Place in Decatur in 2004, where she was very active and made many dear friends. She was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Avondale Estates and belonged to the Esther Sunday School class. She was also a member of Kappa Theta Sorority and the Avondale Estates Garden Club. She served as the city clerk and treasurer of Avondale Estates for 20 years before retirement. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 4, 2013. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Avondale Estates. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
