Jeanne Alice Bucsela died on Saturday December 6, 2014 in San Rafael, CA from complications due to pneumonia. She was 84 years old. Born in Detroit Michigan, Jeanne graduated with a BS in chemistry from the University of Michigan. She later received dual MS degrees in biochemistry and librarianship. She was married to John Bucsela, a professor at Emory University. Most of her adult life was spent in Atlanta, GA, where she worked at the Centers for Disease Control. Jeanne was a top-notch editor of scientific journals who loved her job. She also enjoyed opera and classical music, Michigan football and finding clever solutions to projects around the house. Jeanne was known to her many friends as an optimistic, kind and caring person who never gave up. She will be greatly missed. Jeanne is survived by son, Eric Bucsela, daughter Maria Sobol, daughter-in-law, Tracy Fine, and her three grandchildren, John, Emily, and Clare. She is preceded in death by her husband, John and her son Jon. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Jon Bucsela Scholarship Award at MIT. A family burial service will be held the following morning at the Decatur Cemetery at 12:00 noon, with a separate memorial service in San Rafael CA in January 2015. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday, December 13 at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
