Jeanne Amrhein Ramsey died on Wednesday, February 15 at A.G. Rhodes Nursing Home (Emory) attended by her family. She had been a resident there for approximately three years. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Al Ramsey; daughter, Jennifer MacDonald; stepsons, Frank (Jeanneine) and Chris (Tammy) Ramsey; grandson, Copper; sister, Ilene (Ray) Reynolds; brother, Chris (Wilhelmina) Amrhein; and several nieces and nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Edward Amrhein. Jeanne was born October 26, 1940 in the Borough of Queens New York City to Robert Amrhein and Mary Elizabeth Murray. She grew up in the Village of Floral Park, attended parochial schools there and received a BS degree from Georgia State University. Her working career was spent in the insurance industry as an underwriter and reinsurance account executive.
Jeanne had the misfortune of developing Multiple Sclerosis in her twenties. However, she refused to let the disease define her life and persevered in her roles of mother, wife and career woman.
Visitation will be held at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, February 17. Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 18, at Decatur Cemetery, 229 Bell Street Decatur, with a reception to follow at A.S. Turners. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 21.
