Jeanne Chandler Grossman

July 24, 1929 — April 29, 2010

Jeanne Marie Chandler Grossman, 80, affectionately known as "Meem", passed peacefully April 29th, 2010, surrounded by loving family. She is survived by her husband, Nicholas Grossman; daughters, Nancy Pihera and husband James, and Gail Scherer and husband Mike; beloved grandchildren, Drew Pihera, Evan Pihera and his wife Rebecca, Nicholas Scherer and Jana Marie Scherer; and her adored Sofia Pihera, who made Meem a great grandmother. She also leaves to cherish her memory, sisters-in-law, Joan Grossman, and Rosemarie Gehrig and her husband Jere; nieces, Carol Cortopassi and family,and Janice Steege and family; nephews, Glenn Grossman and family, and Ted Gehrig; a host of other family and friends, and her very special four-legged friend, Abby. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 4th, at 11 AM, with visitation immediately before, at A. S. Turner and Sons in Decatur, 404-292-1551. A reception will be held following the service, at the residence. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canine Assistants, the National Kidney Foundation, or the animal charity of your choice.
