Jeffrey P. Donohue, age 60, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Jeff was born in Wisconsin and later lived in St. Louis, MO for 20 years before moving to Atlanta in 2003. He earned his PhD in Computational Chemistry from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Jeff had a rewarding career with USDA and then retired after 9 years as a research chemist with the CDC. He had a passion for life. His interests were wide and varied and included a deep love for his family, his sailboat, his sports car and the students he taught at Georgia Perimeter College. Jeff is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Monica L. Donohue; daughters, Erin (Phil) Donohue-Koelher and Shannon Donohue; son, Patrick Donohue; father, Harold (Ella Balwin) Viereck; brothers, Jon (Raluca Semeniuc) Donohue and Jason (Lani Lee) Viereck; sister, Jennifer Viereck; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Tommie Viereck. A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 10th at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Atlanta. Memorial donations may be made to American Kidney Services, 260 Peachtree Street #2700, Atlanta, GA 30303. The family will receive friends this evening (Friday) from 5 to 8 PM at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, Decatur.
