Jeffrey (Jef) Patrick Murray died suddenly on August 3. He was born on March 17, 1960 in Melbourne, Fl. and graduated from Georgia Tech with bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering. Jef was an engineer for many years before pursuring his life's real calling, which was artwork, especially illustrating the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, to whom Jef credited his conversion to Catholicism. Jef became an internationally known artist with works appearing in Amon Hen, Malhorn, Silver Leaves and the St. Austin Review. He also illustrated his wife's columns for The Georgia Bulletin, and wrote two books, Seer: A Wizard's Journal and The Framerunners.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Lorraine; his mother, Lou Craig; his brother, R. Steven Murray and partner, Scott Titshaw; aunt and uncle, Mary Anne and H. R. Lester, Jr; godchildren, Sarah and Stephen Mottram; sister-in-law Rosemary Goolsby; aunt, Rita Pope; nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Wayne Metcalf, Chrissy and Bill Edgar; Rick and Mindi Mende; cousins Julie and Charles Anderson, Donnie and Kathleen McKendree; John and Debbie Rosasco; cousins Robyn and Jason Rosasko; cousins Raymond and Leah Anderson, Adam and Mindy Anderson, Aaron and Rachelle Anderson and Jaye and Rachel Bridwell, plus a herd of little cousins, and many friends at St. Thomas More and the Pitts Theology Library.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated by Msgr. Richard Lopez at The Cathedral of Christ the King at 10:30 a.m. August 7. Visitation and Rosary are at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home starting at 6 p.m. August 6. The family requests donations to Birthright of Atlanta, Ga.
