Jerry Wayne Upchurch

Mr. Jerry Wayne Upchurch, 75, of Decatur, died Sunday, June 15, 2008. He graduated from Avondale High School in 1950 and played minor league Baseball during the 1950's. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the war with Korea. Mr. Upchurch retired from Georgia Power Company where he worked for 33 years in the Forestry Division. He was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church and the Metro Ambassadors of Georgia Power. He is survived by his wife, Betty Rogers Upchurch; sons, Michael Morris of Columbia, SC, Scott Upchurch of Conyers, Chris Upchurch of Snellville and Greg Upchurch of Loganville; step son, Steve Cox of Dacula; 7 grandchildren; brothers, Henry Upchurch of Norcross and Tim Upchurch of Loganville. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 11 a.m.,Wednesday, June 18th, Rev. Warren Redding officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at A. S. Turner & Sons
