Jessica Lewis Colker

Jessica Lewis Colker's life was taken suddenly on January 24, 2016 on the Caribbean island of Grenada. Born and raised in southeastern Virginia, Jessica later lived in Charlottesville, and most recently in Atlanta, GA. Jessica was a loving wife to Brian Melito, daughter to Brenda Burdette and Randall Colker (Shirley Estes), sister to Gabriel Colker (Leonie Barrera), granddaughter to Jean Colker, niece to Hal Creel (Tim Sites) and Marcia Jensen (Hal Jensen), and best friend to Kate, Heather, and Sammi. She is also dearly missed by numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Her grace, thoughtfulness, and love of life will be forever in our hearts. A tenacious learner, Jessica held a bachelors degree in women's studies and creative writing from the College of William and Mary in Virginia, a Master of Medical Sciences in Anesthesiology from Emory University, and a certificate of Integrative Nutrition from The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She was a valued team member at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, where she worked as a Physician Assistant in Anesthesia. Jess was a lover of traveling all over the world, spending time in the outdoors both beaches and mountains. She was a practitioner of yoga and meditative dance. Jessica loved writing, cooking and nutrition, and hiking with her dogs. We will celebrate Jessica's life on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at the First Existentialist Church, 470 Candler Park Drive, Atlanta. Gathering time: 1pm. All are welcome to a reception afterward.
