Jessie Faye Tum1in, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2005. Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Jessie Tumlin. She is survived by her sister and husband, Freddie & John Ford; sister, Jerry Ellis; seven nieces and nephews along with their spouses; and a number of grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Faye was born in Jacksonville, Florida on June 30, 1929. In 1946 she moved with her family to Lake Como, Florida. In the 1960's, Faye became the first switchboard operator/receptionist at Florida's new Center for the Blind, where she worked for nine years. In 1984, Faye and her parents moved to Tucker, Georgia, and made their home with Faye's sister and her husband, Freddie & John Ford. In 1997, Faye's health necessitated a move to Budd Terrace at Wesley Woods, where she resided until her death. Through the years, Faye was an active member of the following churches: Avondale Baptist, Jacksonville, FL, First Baptist Church of Crescent City, FL, and First Baptist Church of Tucker, GA. In 1993 she joined Briarlake Baptist Church, of which she was a member at the time of her death. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, October 8, at Redwine United Methodist Church, Oakwood, Georgia, Rev. Ron Gaynor officiating. Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 7, at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur.
