Jimmie Colleen Lewis of Stone Mountain, GA, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015 after a brief illness. Jimmie was born in Birmingham, AL. on November 25, 1926. She lived and continued her education there until she met her future husband, Willis (Bill) Lewis, while both were employed at Sears Roebuck. After their marriage, Bill?s career took them to Montgomery, AL; Orlando, FL; Richmond, VA; and Chicago, IL. Upon Bill?s retirement in 1979 they returned to live in Stone Mountain, GA. Jimmie?s greatest enjoyments came from the simple things in life?caring for her family, reading, knitting, gardening, completing daily crossword puzzles and loving and doting on her pets. She was known for her love of cooking and preparing meals for her family and others. All of her cooking and homemaking skills were self- taught. She utilized her God given talents always acting as a wonderful hostess, especially during the holidays. Jimmie was a champion bridge player and for many years enjoyed frequent bridge tournaments with a cherished group of friends. For more than 62 years she was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Decatur, where she was active in the women?s Sunday School class. After 62 years of marriage, Jimmie was preceded in death her husband, Bill, in 2013. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Tully Blackwell and Amanda Christian Blackwell, as well as her brother Jay Blackwell. She is survived by her four children, Janet Lewis of Decatur, GA, Sharon Clarke of Vinings, GA, Chris Lewis of Stone Mountain, GA, and Brian Lewis of Queen Creek, AZ, her grandchildren Will Segraves, Matt Wortham, Nick Wortham, Ben Lewis, Bart Lewis, Logan Lewis, Melissa Shattuck, great grandchildren Branson Wortham, Emerson Segraves, Tanner Segraves, Gavin Segraves, Lily Shattuck, Miles Shattuck, sister, Eloise Hites of Birmingham, AL, niece, Margie Hays and nephew Van Hays. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home Rev. Bob Williamson will officiate Burial will be at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker, GA. Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the charity of your choice. The family also gives special thanks to Carolyn Hughes for the love and devotion shown to the Lewis family for more than 45 years. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
