JoAnne Leasure Bradbury, aged 81, passed away on October 2, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia. Born on August 10, 1943, JoAnne had a rich life filled with love, travel, and service. She married David Bradbury on April 14, 1973, and together they shared 51 years of devoted partnership.
JoAnne was a cornerstone of support and affection for her family. She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Ellen Piquette (Mike) and Amy Ecklund (Brian), and a doting grandmother to Brannon Barnhill, Claire and Sophia Piquette, and Olivia and Sophia Ecklund. She is also survived by her sister, Kathleen Leasure, and remembered by her niece and nephews. JoAnne was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Barbara Leasure, and her sister, Michelle McGahee.
Throughout her life, JoAnne embraced the role of a loving mother and grandmother with enthusiasm and pride. She attended countless gymnastic meets, swim and diving meets, and dance recitals, always supporting and cheering on her daughters and granddaughter. JoAnne's early years were marked by numerous relocations, living in various places across the United States and overseas in Japan and Taiwan, due to her father's military career. She eventually settled in Atlanta in the late 1960s, where she found a community and a place to call home.
Professionally, JoAnne dedicated twenty years to nurturing young minds at Embry Hills UMC Preschool and Kindergarten as a preschool teacher's aide, a role that reflected her nurturing spirit and love for children.
In her later years, JoAnne found joy in traveling with her husband and dear friends to various destinations around the world, including England, France, Greece, Hawaii, and various U.S. National Parks, enriching her life with experiences and memories.
A service to celebrate JoAnne's life will be held on October 12, 2024, at 2:00 pm at A.S. Turner & Sons, located at 2773 N. Decatur Road, Decatur, GA 30033.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in JoAnne's name to the Arthritis Foundation. These contributions will honor her memory and help continue the fight against arthritis, a cause important to her.
