Mr. John Charles Butler, age 37, of Indianapolis, IN died Monday, June 28, 2010. He was born in Durham, North Carolina, in 1973, grew up in Washington, D.C., and graduated from Central High School in Maryland in 1991. From 1991 - 1995, John served in the Army and was three times named Soldier of the Quarter at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. After leaving the Army, he returned to school and received a bachelor's degree in physics from Illinois State University and a master's degree in physics from University of Illinois. At the time of his passing John was working as a Microscope Sales Representative for Olympus America, Inc. He is survived by his mother, Cornelia Morgan Butler; father, Rev. Gerald “Rusty” Butler and his wife Rebecca; sister, Gretchen Butler, and step sister, Jennifer Koehl. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 2, 2010, at 2pm in the Chapel of the Decatur First United Methodist Church, 318 Sycamore Street, Decatur, GA 30030. The family requests no flowers. A.
