John Denvil Trotter

October 19, 1979 — May 8, 2023

John Trotter was a devoted follower of Jesus, father, and husband who dedicated his life to serving his family and others. Over the last few decades, he and his beloved family served cross-culturally in various parts of the world, including urban America, Nepal, the Philippines, and the Northern Mariana Islands. Most recently, he lived in Atlanta with his wife Charity and son Amos. He served as a lead teacher with Global Frontier Missions and pastor of Liberty Vineyard Church, all while pursuing a doctorate, focusing on disability and missions, at Fuller Theological Seminary.

John was a true pioneer who gave his all to everything he pursued. He was a fighter for those he loved, and his compassion for those around him was always evident. His sudden passing on May 8th came as a shock to us all, leaving his wife Charity and his son Amos behind. John's life and message have touched and inspired many, and his impact will continue to reverberate for years to come. He will be greatly missed.

Two days before his passing, John wrote a blog post, his final words were:

"If anyone reading feels stuck, lost, or like the journey you are on is wasted, know that the journey is not linear. It spins, unravels, winds back up again, and the helix spins again and again towards the reforming that only God can do. With you on the journey."

John is preceded in death by his mother, Jean Trotter. John dedicated his book, Reflecting Jesus in the City to her. According to his dedication to her in the book "your passion for the presence and glory of Jesus taught me to reflect Him more than anyone I know." John spent his life following her example. Tragically, John's life was cut short, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His memory will forever be cherished by his wife Charity Trotter, his son Amos Trotter, his father Autry Trotter and his sister Mary Trotter.

How You Can Help

With John no longer in his former positions, we are uncertain about what the coming months will look like financially for his family. In lieu of flowers, we are requesting donations be made here which will go directly to Charity and Amos. If John has impacted your life in any way and you are able to contribute, any amount would be greatly appreciated. There's no such thing as a donation that's "too-small" - each one represents a contribution of someone's love. We appreciate your kindness and support during this challenging time. https://gofund.me/a4f303bd
