John Howard Mccollum

Mr. John Howard McCollum, Jr, of East Point, Georgia, died on Friday, October 11, 2013. Howard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sarah Perry McCollum. Howard was a U. S. Army veteran of WWII, and a 65 year member of IBEW Local 613. He loved Gospel Music, his church and his church family and was a faithful member of Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church in East Point. The local funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 13th, at Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church, 1150 Jefferson Avenue, East Point GA30344, with Reverend Darwin Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon between 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 5:00 to 7:00 pm at A. S. Turner and Sons. Viewing will also be available Sunday from 1:00 - 2:00 pm prior to the funeral service at the church. A second funeral service will be held at 11:00 am (CT), Tuesday, October 15th, at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Bethpage, Tennessee, with Reverend Darwin Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church or Gentiva Hospice at 2362 Lawrenceville Hwy, Bldg 2, suite 200, Decatur GA 30033.
