Mr. John H. Sheely of Atlanta passed away on Monday October 22, 2012. Born in Daytona Beach, Florida, he was a retired Supervisor for Southern Bell. He was an aviation and sailing enthusiast. He was a member of the Bell Aero Flying Club, the Navy Flying Club, and the Silver Wings Fraternity. He was an active member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church and Friendship Sunday School Class for 57 years. He taught older youth Sunday School and was a Methodist Youth Fellowship Counselor. He served many years as a volunteer for Oak Grove's Life Enrichment Services. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his daughters and son-in-laws, Teresa and Garry Harley of Woodstock, Georgia, Marianne and Lee Carr of Roswell, Georgia; grandsons Brandon and Cameron Carr; his son and daughter-in-law Jon Moore and Linda English; niece Mary Archibald; niece, Patty McClain; and nephew, Russell L. Leonard, III. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 25 in the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons with Rev. Louis Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. He requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Decatur, Georgia or the United Methodist Children's Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
