Mr. John Lesley Strickland, 58, of Tucker, died May 4, 2016. A native of Atlanta, John was the son of the late Frank Lesley and Mary Frances Giddens Strickland. He attended South West DeKalb High School and went on to attend what is now GA State / Perimeter College. He worked in management for jewelry retailers most of his career while spending the latter years of his career at a Bell South Mobility. He had a love for music, dancing, fine jewelry, antiques, the ocean, and good hugs. He was a man who adored his girls; he had a huge heart, a wonderful silly side, and a strong passion for life.
Survivors, other than his mother, include his devoted wife and partner, Carole Strickland; two daughters, Amy (Jarrett) Baggett and L. Michelle (Jim) James; brother, Frank D. (Judy) Strickland; mother-in-law, Helen Rhodes; two granddaughters, Reese Baggett and Chyna James; and a grandson, Justin James. John is also survived by many friends he was blessed to consider family.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Saturday in the chapel at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home, Decatur. Interment will be at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in his honor.
