John Nolan Howett Eley

John Nolan Howett Eley, born February 2, 1990 in Douglasville, Georgia, died November 3rd, 2019 in Roswell, Georgia. He is the beloved son of Dr. Maeve Howett of Amherst, Massachusetts and Dr. Bill Eley and Mary Haley of Decatur, Georgia, and the adored little brother of Sarah Caitlin Howett Eley of Smyrna, Georgia.
He was predeceased by his grandparents: Hubert Wayne Eley, Sarah Allene Eley, and John Spurgeon Howett; and uncles Wayne Eley and Russell Poss. He is grieved by his grandmother “Nana”, Catherine Howett of Atlanta, Georgia, and aunts and uncles: Meghan and Clarke Magruder, Catherine and Cozart Smith, Ciannat and Cullen Marose, Jane and Rick Kay, Ann and Harrison Randolph, and Dot Poss and all his many loving cousins and friends.
Nolan attended St. Thomas More Catholic School in Decatur, Georgia, Marist High School in Atlanta, Georgia, and Oxford College of Emory University, Oxford, Georgia. He was a certified Drug and Addiction Counselor and worked for Jason’s Deli in Roswell, Georgia.
A memorial service will be held in Cannon Chapel at Emory University at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 9th with the Reverend Kevin Crawford officiating.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in memorial of John Nolan Howett Eley to: The Monastery of the Holy Spirit to support the good works of the Trappist community , or Nolan’s Fund to continue the work of teaching compassion, supporting addiction recovery, and improving emotional and spiritual wellbeing. This fund will be established at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia in the coming weeks.
