John Steven Rutledge, Sr., died peacefully June 18, 2008, at his home in Roswell after a valiant battle with esophageal cancer. Born July 27, 1937 in New York City, Steve was the only child of the late Frank and Dorothy Rutledge. Steve graduated from Cornell University and then earned an MBA at the University of Chicago while embarking on a 40-year career in the steel industry. During his retirement, Steve relished his time traveling with his beloved wife, Jamie. In addition to Jamie, surviving are Steve's three children: John Steven Rutledge, Jr., and his wife, Lynn Downing Rutledge; Christopher Scott Rutledge and his wife, Sherry Odom Rutledge; and Bonnie Rutledge Steuer and her husband, Karl William Steuer. Surviving also are his stepdaughter, Tammy Holden, and her husband, Scott, as well as his stepson, Keith Sizemore. Included are eight grandchildren: Trey, Tiffany, Courtney, and Ashley Rutledge; Natalie and Madalena Steuer; and Andy and Kelsey Holden. Funeral services will be held at East Cobb Presbyterian Church at 11 A.M. Saturday, June 21st. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church. Final internment will be a private ceremony at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson, TN, on Saturday afternoon. A. S. Turner & Sons
