John Stuart Mullins

John Stuart Mullins, 75, of Decatur, GA died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. John was born November 29, 1941 in Roanoke, VA to the late Eleanor McNeil Mullins and John Oakey Mullins. He was a proud 1964 Graduate of Virginia Tech. John was happily married for almost 32 years to Catherine (Cathy) Mullins. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Harriette Mullins of Roanoke, VA, sister and brother-in- law, Mary Anne Mullins and Christopher Robinson of Check, VA, brother-in-law, Bill Maddox (married to Charlotte) of Mexico Beach, FL, and Cathy's niece and nephews and great nieces and great nephew. John was a true gentleman, and we will miss his kindness, caring nature, and love for family and friends. He served in the US Army and was employed for 36 years in sales and service for group insurance, working initially for Travelers and later Aetna. John enjoyed woodworking, gardening, volunteering, hiking, reading, traveling with Cathy, and celebrating life with family and friends. The world is a much better place for his having been here. A private graveside service for the family will be held on a later date at Decatur Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in John's memory to The Carter Center, 453 Freedom Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30307 or Habitat for Humanity-DeKalb, P.O. Box 403, Tucker, GA 30085. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 22nd from 12:30 – 2:00 PM at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, GA 30033.
