John T. Cleckley, Jr.

John T. Cleckley, Jr., age 84, died Sunday, February 6, 2005. He lived in Lawrenceville, Ga., formerly of Stone Mountain. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary S. Cleckley, and his daughter, Laura C. Wilkinson and her husband, Jack D. Wilkinson of Suwanee. He had two grandchildren, Sarah Wilkinson and Jacklyn Wilkinson, also from Suwanee. He was preceded in death by his only son, Jack Cleckley, who died at the age of 26 years. John was a native of Augusta, Ga., and he graduated from Georgia Tech in 1942 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a veteran of World War II. During his career as an engineer, he worked with Georgia Power, Toombs, Amisano & Wells, was a partner in the firm Jones and Cleckley in Augusta, Ga., and for a number of years with the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. He was the Vice President of Engineering for all the banks in the Atlanta Region. He retired from the Federal Reserve Bank in 1987 and spent many pleasant hours in his summer home in Highlands, NC. He died of Alzheimer's. If anyone should care to remember him, donations may be made to The Bereaved Parents of The United States, P. 0. Box 95, Park Forest, 11 60466. The body will be cremated. No service is planned, but a memorial service will be announced later. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday, February 7th at A. S. Turner & Sons.
