Mr. John T. Colbert, 86, of Stone Mountain, died Monday, April 21, 2014. He served in the U.S. Army during during the occupation in Germany at the end of World War II and again during the Korean War. He was married to Norma Jean Pike in 1945 and they had five children. John worked as an auto mechanic, and retired from Cofer Brothers in 1988. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 64 years, and his son Stephen. He is survived by his sons Michael (Brenda) Colbert of Elberton, David (Sally) Colbert of Loganville, and daughters Mary (Chris) Billingsley of Decatur and Stacye (Scot) Cotton of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Madelaine (Ryan) Cieslak of Charlotte, N.C., Hagan (Kim) Colbert of Peachtree City, Wilson Billingsley of Decatur, Carolina and Casey Cotton of Houston, Texas, and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Colette Colbert of Peachtree City. In lieu of flowers, well wishers are asked to make a contribution to the Wounded Warrior Project. A private burial will be held at a later time. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 25th from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory
