Mr. John Golding, Sr., 77, died Friday, February 19, 2010, with his family by his side at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He was born October 16, 1932 in Atlanta, Georgia to Melvin E. Golding and Eva Jane Hulme Golding. Mr. Golding graduated from Decatur High School and later served in the U. S. Marines Corps, where he was a Howitzer gun crew member. He retired from Georgia Power in 1989 after working there for 32 years. He and his wife, Cookie, were active members of the Georgia Power Ambassadors. Mr. Golding was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Smyly Golding, sisters, Blanche Golding Wood, Ellen Golding King and brother, Eugene Golding. He is survived by his wife, Cookie Jackson Golding; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy Golding and Tim Alcock of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Suzanne and Bob Morris of Tucker; sons and daughters-in-law, John, Jr. and Becky Golding of Conyers, Scott and Laurie Golding of Tucker; step-sons, Jon Jackson of Lawrenceville, Michael Jackson of Stone Mountain; grandchildren, Michelle Parton and William Golding; four great grandchildren; brothers, Ernest Golding of Decatur, Bobby Golding of Dallas, TX; sister, Sarah G. Doss of Loganville. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 21st at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Rev. Sondra Jones officiating.
