Johnny Grafton Gay, 79, of Doraville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2010. Born in Zebulon, NC, he served in the Air Force four years. He was stationed at San Antonio and Valdosta, then served in the Korean War including one year in Pusan, Korea. Mr. Gay worked with Gulf Oil Corporation for 33 years, based in Atlanta. He retired in 1985. An ardent supporter of his church, Northeast Baptist, he was a faithful servant for 45 years. Mr. Gay was beloved by his family and friends for his steadfast belief in putting God first in his life, as well as his commitment and loving support of his family. He set an example of living with these principles day-to-day that his children follow in their lives. Mr. Gay was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nellie Gay and his survivors include Sulou Taylor Gay, his wife of 56 years; son Geoffrey and wife Lisa; daughter Tiffany and husband Don, as well as four grandchildren, Sydney Rountree, Mason Gay, Reese Rountree and Peyton Rountree, all of metropolitan Atlanta. Other surviving family includes his siblings: Geraldine Gay Fleming, Grifton, NC, and Jessie Gay, Wake Forest, NC; as well as six nieces, one nephew, six great nieces and seven grand nephews.
