Johnny Iven Nix, Jr

Mr. Johnny I. Nix, Jr., 88 of Stone Mountain, died Sunday, May 15, 2011. He retired from Bingham Roller Company as District Manager for the Southern district after more than 40 years of service. He is a WWII veteran and was a staff sergeant in the U. S. Army (12th Battalion, 4th Regiment), a member of the 82nd Airborne and an Army Reservist. Mr. Nix was a 50 year member of the Glenwood Hills Masonic Lodge No. 703, a 32nd degree Mason and a Yaarab Shriner. He was a past member of White Oak Hills Baptist Church for over 38 years and was an associate teacher for the Men�s Bible Class. He is currently a member of Annistown Road Baptist Church and Henry Whitehead�s Sunday School Class. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by son, Johnny I. Nix, III and is survived by his wife, Dorothy Rebecca Nix; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Lillian Nix; daughter-in-law, Barbara Nix; grandchildren, Rebecca Lee Nix, Jason Nix and wife, Jennifer, Joshua Nix and wife, Katy, Erin Nix King and husband, Matt, and Holly Nix; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 19th in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons with Rev. Jim Crutchfield officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at A.S. Turner & Sons.
