Jorge Carlos Fernandez-Travieso

Jorge Carlos Fernandez-Travieso, beloved husband, father of two, son, brother and friend to so many, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the young age of 39. Jorge was a bright light that burned out too soon. He lived life to the fullest, embodying the motto work hard, play hard. Jorge was a devoted father, who did his best to instill his love of life, soccer and Real Madrid in Javi, his Mago. He loved spoiling his Princesa, Carmen, who always kept him on his toes. Jorge's fondest memories were from the many adventures he had with Judy, his best friend and better half. They loved to travel and discover new places together. Georgie was a passionate, generous and loyal friend, who touched many lives and will never be forgotten.
Jorge will be greatly missed by his wife, Judy Baracz Fernandez, and their two children, Javi (7) and Carmen (4); his mother and second father, Sandy and Carlos Cervantes; his sister Joy Fernandez Quernemoen, her husband Scott and their daughters Julia E. and Elisa Quernemoen; his grandmother, Margaret "Nanny" Stasko; his in-laws, Rich and Kathy Baracz; his brothers and sisters Alvaro Jose and Sherri Cervantes, Maria Cervantes Hunt, Jenny Baracz, Tim and Betsie Baracz, and Mike and Allison Baracz; his nieces and nephews Gabriel, Isabel, Maximillian, Diego, Pablo, Jenna, Justin, Gavin, McKayla, Colton, Lindsay and Carter; plus many more loving family and friends. Jorge was preceded in death by his Papi, Jorge Maximillian Fernandez-Travieso; his Abuela, Elisa Gandia Garijo; and his brother Carlos Miguel Cervantes.
A celebration of Jorge's life will be held on Thursday August 4, 2016 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at A.S. Turner and Sons in Decatur, GA. A Mass will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Decatur, GA, with a reception to follow.
