Joseph James Bodine

Joseph James Bodine, 18, of Decatur, GA, passed away on May 25, 2016. Joe was born July 21, 1997 and was the son of Albert Bodine and Lori Heemann. He attended The City Schools of Decatur and graduated from Decatur High School with many of the same friends he met in Pre-K. Joe loved lacrosse and played on teams from the Decatur Rec through his senior year at DHS.
Joe is survived by his parents and his sister Lia. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Ellen and Warren Heemann of Decatur, and also his paternal grandparents Cecilia and Joseph Bodine of Granville, Ohio. He is also survived by step-parents Lori Umberg and Jill Kirchgatter, the Byrd family of Decatur, the Desautelle family of Pennsylvania, step-brother Zak Umberg and his Uncles Paul Heemann and John Bodine.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by AS Turner and Sons. The celebration of Joe's life will be held on Sunday, May 29th at 2pm at the Decatur High School Performing Arts Center, 310 N. McDonough Street, Decatur, GA 30030.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the Decatur Education Foundation for a fund to address adolescent mental health and addiction resources in Decatur, the community that Joe loved. If you would like to donate, you may do so in the following ways:
