Josephine Adelene Sills

Josephine A. Sills, 89, of Monroe, GA and formerly of Decatur, GA died Thursday, November 22, 2007 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Born in Atlanta on October 1, 1918, she was school secretary at Clark Howell, Ragsdale, & Guice Elementary Schools until she retired in 1981. She was also a nursery and pre-school teacher at Mt. West Church of God for 20 years. Although she never had children of her own, she was mother to many during her career. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Epworth United Methodist Church which she attended faithfully until her move to Monroe to be near family this summer. Jo believed in living life to the fullest and took each day, one day at a time. At this time, we celebrate her life and know she is now with our Lord. She is survived by her niece and husband, Robin and Stan Rhymer; her brother and his wife, Lloyd and Bettye Sills; great-nephews, Blake and Adam Rhymer; niece and husband, Sharon and Jesse Waugh; and great-nieces, Megan Shamer and Sommer Waugh. Funeral services will be in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2007. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Epworth United Methodist Church or United Methodist Children's Home in Decatur, GA. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 24, 2007 between the hours of 1:00 and 3:00 P.M. at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, Decatur GA.
