Joyce Adams Guthas, age 90, DOB 1/24/33, died peacefully in her sleep January 8, 2024. She was married to Ellis Guthas for 50 years. A. S. Turner, Decatur, GA is handling her arrangements. The family will receive visitors on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 6-8 pm, at St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church. 2045 Ponce de Leon Avenue, Atlanta, GA. The Funeral will be Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 1:00 pm at St. Elias, followed by burial at Westview Cemetery.
She is predeceased by her husband Ellis Guthas. and her grandchildren Jennifer Guthas and Margaret Fletcher. She is survived by son Arthur Guthas, Carnesville, GA, and two daughters Cheryl Guthas Fletcher (Thomas-dec.), Snellville,GA, and Lynn Guthas Pampalon (Chip), Ball Ground, GA; five grandchildren, Matthew Guthas, Powder Springs, Michael Pampalon, Honolulu, Joseph Pampalon, Duluth, Andrew Pampalon, Buford, Nicole Fletcher, Snellville; and three great grandchildren, Jersi Guthas, Shiloh Guthas, and Mia Pampalon.
Joyce was a homemaker who worked in several family businesses over the years. She was the caretaker and "nurse" of the extended family. She was an accomplished seamstress and decorator. She was known for her generous giving nature and for her sense of humor. She was an active member of St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church for 60 years, where she was a member of St. Mary's Ladies Society.
