Mrs. Joyce Page Whitfield, 86, of Doraville died Sunday, July 19, 2009. While Alzheimer’s attacked her body, she lived her last 23 months at Northlake Gardens and was at Altus Hospice when she left to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada to the late James Ernest Page and Alice Maud Emily Thornton Page. Mrs. Whitfield was the dietician at the First Baptist Church of Atlanta for 10 years and a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church. Joyce enjoyed the annual cruise with the Southern Gospel Quartets. She also visited family and friends in Canada each year. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Taylor; brother and sister-in-law, James and Simone Page; and sister, Christine Johnston. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert G. Whitfield; children, Robert G. Whitfield, Jr., Doreen (Barry) Branch; son-in-law, Jack Taylor; brother-in-law, Bob Johnston; grandchildren, Nicole (Russell) Evans, Jonathan Whitfield, Hailey Branch, Hunter Branch; and several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Rehoboth Baptist Church on Saturday, July 25 at 11 a.m., Rev. Rusty Womack and Rev. Jack Hudson officiating with remains being placed in State at 10 a.m. Interment Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 24 at A. S. Turner & Sons.
