Joyce Selin

Our Angel Mother, Joyce Irintha Pugmire Selin, age 90, passed from this life on Thursday, June 25, 2015 in Atlanta, GA. Joyce was born on May 28, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Cecil Annie Gasser and Delbert Maurice Pugmire. On August 14, 1946 she married Merle John Selin in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for Time and all Eternity. Their marriage was blessed with seven very special children. Joyce grew up in Salt Lake City and received her nursing degree from the LDS Hospital School of Nursing. In 1961, Merle and Joyce with their seven children moved to Atlanta, GA where they embraced the charm of the south. In addition to caring for her large family, her career included nursing at Crawford Long and DeKalb General Hospitals. She also spent countless hours serving within her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her love of quilting inspired her to open The Village Quilt Shop in Stone Mountain, where her patient instruction and love for people touched countless lives. She is survived by her children, Lonny Selin (Leslie) of Holladay, UT; Wendie Cooper (Les) of Moncks Corner, SC; Sharon Stifflemire (Terry) of Huntsville, AL; Julie Calderwood ( David) of Huntsville, AL; Becky Miller (Grant) of Tracy City, TN; Brent Selin (Elaine) of Farmington, UT; Roger Selin (Katherine) of Loganville, GA; 28 grandchildren, and 38 great-grandchildren. The family will receive guest on Thursday, July 2 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm with services to follow at 1:30 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints, 3355 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville, GA. 30044. Interment will be in St. Charles, Idaho. A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
