Judith Ellen Johnson

December 22, 1942 — September 18, 2020

Judith (Judy) Ellen Johnson had an independent streak a mile long. As the younger of two daughters born in 1942 to a civil engineer and a former teacher/camp counselor, Leslie Frank Johnson and Ellen Martha (Jorgensen) Johnson, Judy lived an adventurous life. Not held back by her hearing loss, Judy excelled at the Davison School, went on to attend Leslie J Steele ES in Kirkwood and graduated from Druid Hills HS in 1961. Judy graduated from Erskine College in 1965 and began a long career with the USDoD. Throughout her younger years she travelled extensively with her parents and in 1972 she moved across the country to Los Angeles, CA where she was an active member and leader of the La Fiesta Club. In 1992, after the death of her parents, Judy moved back to Decatur, Ga to their home in Leafmore Hills. She worked at Fort McPherson until she retired. Judy loved seashells, cats, scrabble and the Lord. She was a member of Clairmont Presbyterian Church. Judy was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Anne. She is survived by her niece, Leslie Smith Grant, and nephews, Miles Smith and Keith Smith. The family will have a private graveside service at Honey Creek Woodlands. Any memorials may be made in Judy's name to pawsatlanta.org
