Judy Brown

Lora Julianne "Judy" Hall Lewis Brown, native Atlantan, raised in Decatur, GA, died at Piedmont Hospital, Saturday, May 10, 2008, after a long illness. She was born in Atlanta, GA, August 13, 1942.  She graduated from Brennau Academy and Mississippi College, and earned her Masters degree at Georgia State University. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa sorority. After graduation she became Dean of Women at Gardner-Webb University for Women, Boiling Springs, NC for two years, leaving to continue her education. She retired in 2004 after teaching for thirty years in the DeKalb County School System.  She was a member of Briarlake Baptist Church, and a sustaining member of the Junior League.  She was predeceased in death by her husband, James R. Brown; mother and father, Lora Neece and Dr. Dick Houston Hall, Jr., brothers, Dick Houston, III and Robert Taylor Marmon Hall; and nephew, John Steven Hughes.  She is survived by her cherished daughter, Stephanie Paige Lewis of Atlanta; son, Edwin Hunter Lewis; and granddaughter, Courtnay Lewis, both of Boston, MA; sister, Evelyn H. Nehl; nieces, Robin Lora Hughes Patton (Charles R.), both of Jacksonville, FL, Terry Hall Wright of Jackson, MS, Lora Hall Laminack of Suches, GA; nephews, Benjamin Houston Hughes of New Albany, MS, Robert T. M. Hall of Hattiesburg, MS, William Lester Hall of Winston Salem, NC, and Dick Houston Hall, IV of Charlotte, NC; sister-in-law, Peggy Hall of Gainesville; and her beloved companion, Ralph Healey of Atlanta.  Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Decatur on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 2 pm with the remains being placed in state at 1 pm.  Interment at Crest Lawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 to 2 pm at the church.  A.
