Julia Goins Swanson, 92, of Decatur passed away peacefully on September 23, 2010. Julia was an avid bridge player her whole life, playing in as many as three clubs each month. She was proud to be a member of the Atlanta Girls High Class of 1935 and maintained friendships with many of her classmates throughout her life. She was an original and still an active member of the Heaton Park Garden Club. She was a wonderful and devoted friend to many. During her working years, she was a chief clerk at the FBI and Liberty Mutual Insurance. In 1955 she left the business world to raise her children. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was the last surviving child of Frances and Jesse Goins and enjoyed her role as matriarch of the family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Swanson, and their son, Charles F. Swanson. She is survived by two children, James B. Swanson and Julie Woodall, and their spouses, Susan Swanson, and Darrell Woodall; four grandchildren, Jenny Saluti and husband Andrew, Cynthia Swanson, James Woodall, and Charles Woodall; two great–grandchildren, Kate and Benjamin Saluti, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 26 from 4-6 P.M. at A.S. Turner and Sons in Decatur. Her graveside service will be conducted on Monday, Sept. 27 at 11:00 A.M at Arlington Memorial Park in NW Atlanta, near Sandy Springs.
