Mr. Julian C. Ivey of Decatur went to be with his Lord, Thursday, September 29, 2005. He was preceded in death by his son, Bob Ivey and his grandson, Josh Ivey. Mr. Ivey was a graduate of the Georgia Military College and received a BS and MS degree from Auburn University. A former teacher, he later became a purchasing agent for U.S. Rubber Company and Knox Homes. He retired from Rich's as Director of Purchasing. Mr. Ivey was a captain, serving in the U.S. Army during World War II in England, France, Italy and North Africa. He was past president of the Decatur Kiwanis, and District governor of the Kiwanis Club. He was also a member of the Keystone class of Decatur First United Methodist Church. Mr. Ivey is survived by his wife of 70 years, Emily Barnes Ivey of Decatur; son, Bill Ivey, Sr. of Tucker; daughter, Jean Rabun of Thomson; brother, James L. Ivey of Milledgeville, GA; twelve grandchildren; and eighteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 1st in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons. Rev. Louis Miller will officiate. Interment Decatur Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 6065 Roswell Rd., N.E., Atlanta, GA 30328. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
