June Mary Irons was the fifth of eight children born to Kenneth and Maisie Irons on June 30, 1952. June grew up in St. Ann, Jamaica and attended Claremont Primary School after which she moved to Kingston and attended Wolmers Girls School.
After marrying Earl Jackson, June migrated to the U.S. in 1974 where the couple started their new life in Bronx, New York. The union produced three children: Orville, Christie and Jeffrey. Later Jodenne joined the family and June had enough love to enfold all four children.
June accepted Christ at an early age and attended Bethesda Gospel Hall in Claremont, then Bethany Gospel Hall in Kingston. In 1991, the family moved to Atlanta and transferred church membership to Community Bible Chapel from Grace Gospel Chapel. When son members of Community decided to hive off and plant Decatur Bible Chapel, they joined this group and started worshiping at Decatur. June was a member do the choir at Decatur and an attendee to the women's prayer meetings.
June was employed, as an Administrative Assistant, starting with a job at Courts Furniture store in Kingston, Jamaica and finally with South Trust Bank in Atlanta. Later she spent time giving assistance and support to her husband in the family business.
Despite her affliction with lung disease, June was very happy in her final years living with her sister Grace and delighted in attending the senior center where she got involved in the various activities, enjoyed meeting people, spreading love and receiving love in return. June will be remembered for the impact she has had on her children and those who knew her. Often she would share childhood memories of the loving atmosphere in which she was raised and mainly that her parents taught her and her siblings how to appreciate the more important things in life. This love of family and fun was evident in the behavior that was observed when she was visiting with her siblings and children.
She bore her sickness with dignity and a very positive attitude - never complaining, but always smiling. June was happiest spending time wit her grandchildren and would drag that oxygen tank anywhere to watch them participate in an event. In her selflessness, June found time to love and encourage Jodene throughout her college years, and since Jodene left to further her education in Kansas, they spoke to each other every day.
A woman of impeccable character, with a forgiving spirit and unwavering faith, June leaves to mourn her passing: her children - Orville and his wife, Renee, Christie and her husband, Dwight, Jeffrey and his wife, Rikki, and Jodene; grandchildren - Zora, Kennedy, Jacob, Julia, Jayden, Jazmine, and Scottie; siblings - Jean, Grace, George, Beverly, Valerie, and Lloyd; nieces and nephews; her church family and many friends.
In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph.
May her soul rest in peace.
