Mrs. June Cook Murphy Aldridge, age 72 of Tucker, GA died Saturday, October 2, 2004 after a long-term and courageous battle with leukemia. Born in Felton, GA to William and Gladys Cook, she was a graduate of Buchanan High School and Oglethorpe University. She was a teacher at Rehoboth School in DeKalb County for several years, and then owned and operated Murphy’s Antiques in Chamblee, GA. A member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church for over 40 years, she was active in the Altar Guild and UMW, and brought her love of gardening and flowers to the beautification of the church memorial courtyard. She is preceded in death by her first husband, J. Bailey Murphy; her parents; a brother, Wayne Cook; and sister, Janice Cook Elliott. She is survived by her husband, Gil Aldridge; daughter, Nancy Murphy Quintrell and son-in-law, Randy of Atlanta, GA; son, James Bailey Murphy, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Dell, of Woodstock, GA; grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5th at Oak Grove UMC. Dr. Gil Watson, Dr. H. Dan Rice and Rev. David Hancock will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service in the church parlor. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9th at Mountain View Baptist Church in Buchanan, GA.
