June Wood Harris, age 85, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018. Larri June Wood was born on June 2, 1932 in Tarrytown Georgia to Sallie Mae and Rufus Newton Wood. She was a graduate of Mercer University where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. While at Mercer, she met her husband, Bill. She taught school for a short time and then was a secretary at General Services Administration (GSA) and also at Emory University where she retired. June was a faithful member of University Heights United Methodist Church. She was an avid walker and well known for her immaculate home and beautiful yard. She is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Wallace “Bill” Leigh Harris, and also son-in-law David, sister Helen, and brother ‘RN’. She is survived by her daughter Sally, granddaughter Cameron, grandson Jackson, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at University Heights United Methodist Church, Decatur, GA to celebrate the lives of both June and Bill Harris on Saturday, March 24th at 11:00am. The family will greet guests before the ceremony and also at the reception following. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to University Heights United Methodist Church, 1267 Balsam Drive, Decatur, GA 30033.
