Karen Fors Brown

August 3, 1971 — November 3, 2023

It is with a profound sense of loss and sadness to announce that Karen Fors Brown, 52, of Decatur, GA passed away peacefully after a long battle with breast cancer on Friday, November 3, 2023, surrounded by family.

Although she was born in Madison, Wisconsin on August 3, 1971, she spent most of her childhood growing up in Stone Mountain, GA, and was a graduate and homecoming queen of Redan High School's Class of '89. She graduated from Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL in 1993 with a degree in Communications and minors in Psychology and Broadcasting. Over the next 25 years, Karen pursued a career in advertising.

As an Advertising Executive she lived in several places throughout the country, San Diego, CA; St. Augustine, FL; Amelia Island, FL; and most recently in Decatur, GA. She had the opportunity to work on ad campaigns for many well-known brands during her career such as Activision, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Zoo Atlanta, KODAK, Lava Soap, WD-40, Habitat for Humanity, and Zaxby's. She decided to take a step back from the grind of the advertising world in 2019 when she worked as an editorial assistant for a retired diplomat named Jay Taylor and helped him write his memoir until his passing in 2022. Her working relationship with Jay proved to be the most fulfilling of her career; she often said she saved the best for last.

It was in 2004 while working on the Zaxby's account at a conference in Biloxi, MS that she met her soul mate Stephen. The two happened to start up a conversation that evening at a meet and greet and they literally had not stopped talking since. They were married two years later on Fort George Island, FL on November 4th, 2006, and in marriage, they remained a happily devoted, committed, and vibrant couple until her passing.

Karen was a beloved wife, a wonderful sister, a devoted aunt to her niece (Morgan) and four nephews (Aaron, JD, Neal, and Will), and a good friend to just about anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was especially thoughtful in helping her elderly parents by providing loving assistance whenever needed. She always thought of others before herself. She was sensitive, kind, considerate, and caring. After moving back to the Atlanta area in 2013, she would often carry food in her car to give to people in need. She loved going to see a movie in the theater, any type of live performance, gazing at the moon, walking on the beach, and taking hikes anywhere. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Stephen and immersing herself in the cuisine or culture of wherever they might find themselves. Her family and friends know her to be a beautiful person inside and out; honest, trustworthy, and hardworking. She told you what you needed to hear, even if you didn't want to hear it; a truer friend did not exist. She leaves a void that cannot be measured by those she loved and those who loved her.

She is survived by her parents David and Joy Fors of Snellville, GA; her husband of 17 years, Stephen Brown (and their rescue dog Luna) of Decatur, GA; her three sisters, Kim Fors of Atlanta, GA; Kathy Fors Sewell of Lawrenceville, GA; and Kristy Fors of Snellville, GA.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Vecoma at the Yellow River located at 4400 Vecoma Ln, Snellville, GA 30039.

In lieu of flowers, Karen asks you to consider a donation to No Kid Hungry @ www.nokidhungry.org to end Childhood Hunger.
