Karl John Howe

The world lost a great man, a true Southern Gentlemen, a beloved father and grandfather, and cherished friend in Karl Howe who died Sunday, Sept. 6th surrounded by those he loved most. Born July 17, 1926 in Birmingham, AL and raised in Tallapoosa, GA, he went on to serve in the Navy during World War II. After graduating from the University of Alabama, he moved to Atlanta and received his law degree from Emory Law School - going on to enjoy a long and distinguished career as an executive with Commercial Credit Corp. and later as founder of the law firm Howe and Associates. Marrying his soul mate, Ree Mills of Blakely, Ga in 1957 - whom he lost with her passing 6 weeks ago - the couple has served as devoted members of Clairmont Hills Baptist for 57 years. Karl is survived by his daughter, Betsy Masarek, son Richard Howe, grandchildren Adam, Jason, Alex, Carson, Caroline and Lily Kate, and great-grandchildren, Ari and Elliot. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, Sept. 10 at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church 1995 Clairmont Rd. Decatur, GA 30033.
