Katherine Alexandria Scondras

July 19, 1942 — September 6, 2007

Katherine Alexandria Scondras, 65, a life long resident of Atlanta and member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Atlanta died September 6, 2007. She graduated from Grady High School in 1960 and went to work in her uncle's restaurant (Doby's) for two years. After that she started her career in 1962 as a clerk in the bookkeeping department at Citizens and Southern National Bank. In the years that followed, Katherine served as an Accounting Systems manager, a Financial Systems manager, Payroll and Benefits manager, Trust Systems manager and an ATM/Debit Card Settlement Systems manager. During her tenure, Katherine was also a member of many transition teams at C&S, C&S Sovran, NationsBank and Bank of America. Responsibilities included conversions to the banks financial applications (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, and ATM/Debit Card Settlement Systems among other applications). Before she retired on November 1, 2004 after 42 years with the bank, she served as a consultant to the Design Engineering Center. In her role, she represented all the ATM, Debit Card and Automation Applications. As one of her managers stated "Kathy's high level of professionalism and genuine personal concern for fellow associates are 'benchmarks' to which we all should strive to achieve. In her retirement she enjoyed traveling through the United States. Katherine is survived by her sisters, Toula S. Jones of Atlanta, GA and Georgia S. Karris of Memphis, TN; her two nieces, Despie Dos Anjos of Edina, MN and Kathy Mary Furmanski of Augusta, GA; and her two godsons, Ted N. Kipreos and Nicholas T. Kipreos of Cumming, GA. Funeral services will be held at the Greek Cathedral of The Annunciation at 11 a.m. Monday, September 10th, Father George Alexson and Father Paul Keriotis officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Those desiring may send contributions to the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of The Annunciation Renovation fund or Noah's Ark, 712 L. G. Griffin RoadLocust Grove, GA 30248.  The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6 p.m. on Sunday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
