Katherine Louise Robinson

November 6, 1941 — October 9, 2018

Mrs. Katherine “Kathy” Louise Dodgen Robinson died surrounded by her family and friends in Decatur, Georgia on October 9th 2018 at the age of 76.

Kathy is survived by her children, William Preston Aultman of Maine, Theresa Aultman Biggs of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, Christine Belle Aultman Pergola of Grayson, Georgia, John Alva Aultman, Jr. of Walnut Grove, Georgia, William Virgil McConnell Jr. of Cumming, Georgia and siblings Nora Lee Dodgen Cooper of Conyers, Georgia and Emma Allene Dodgen Hoff of Tucker, Georgia. She was the proud grandmother of 13 and great grandmother of 15. She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard C. Robinson, parents Seab Preston Dodgen, Minnie Clyde Talley Pace and siblings Virginia, Billy, Charles, Eugene and Bud.

Kathy was born on November 6th, 1941 in Troup County, Georgia to Seab Preston and Minnie Clyde Dodgen. She lived in Clinton, SC at Thornwell Home for Children from 1952 to 1957 and from there she moved Mobile, Alabama where she met her husband John Alva Aultman, Sr. and had four children, Preston, Theresa, Christine and John Jr. She relocated her family in 1966 to the Atlanta, Ga. area and began working for the Waffle House where she worked for 25 years. She married William Virgil McConnell, Sr. and gave birth to William “Billy” Virgil McConnell, Jr. in 1973. In 1975 she opened Bill and Kathy’s Restaurant in Suburban Plaza in Decatur, Ga. After the restaurant closed she went on to work for Wal-mart where she retired in 2004. She married the love of her life in 1986, Leonard C. Robinson and resided in a home she purchased in Tucker, Ga. She enjoyed her life with him until his passing in 1997. She sold her home of 40 years in 2017 and moved to Decatur Christian Towers where she made many new friendships. She enjoyed calling Bingo, setting up the Coffee Socials, exercising and walks to Wal-mart with her friends. She truly loved her life there!

Kathy was a vibrant, outgoing woman who loved God and her family. She never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off her back. She loved being around people and helping anyone in need. She was an active and dedicated member of North Clarendon Baptist Church and often sang the praises of her pastor Rev. Larry T. Burgess. She loved her church family!

Visitation will be held on Friday October 12th, 2018 from 3 pm- 4:45 pm at A S Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur, Ga., with a service to follow at 5 pm. There will be no grave side ceremony following the funeral service. Rev. Larry Burgess and Mr. Lee Bates will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kathy’s life. North Clarendon Baptist Church will be providing food for the immediate family directly after the service. The family would like to thank the staff and friends at Decatur Christian Towers for welcoming Kathy with open arms and providing a loving and nurturing place for her to call home.
