Katherine Way Gott, age 95, of Atlanta died on Monday, April 26, 2010. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 4, 3:30pm at Wesley Woods Towers in the Riley Room. The daughter of Rev. Walter Pinckney Way and Athena Mellette Way, she was born in Williamsburg County SC on August 31, 1914. She was a 1935 graduate of Columbia College in Columbia SC. She taught school for several years following graduation. After her marriage in 1944, she assisted her husband with his duties as a Methodist Minister. In 1963 she accepted a position as a social worker for the SC Dept of Social Services. She moved to Atlanta in 1992 after the death of her husband, Rev. Edward Wightman Gott, to be near her son, Walter Edward Gott and his wife, Judith. She was a resident of Wesley Woods Towers for the past 15 years. She was a loving wife and devoted mother whose exceptional kindness and loyalty were appreciated by all. She was a member of Decatur First Methodist Church and a former life time member of Summerton United Methodist Church in S. Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Edward P. Gott, and son, Walter E. Gott. She is survived by her son, Grady Gott: Daughter-in-law, Judith Keith Gott; Three grandchildren: Amanda Katherine Gott & family, Wesley Edward Gott and Reed Michael-Julian Gott; 1 Great Granddaughter and
namesake, Katherine Carpenter; Brother, Rev. Robert Way and family; Sister-in-law, Mrs. Margie Way and family; and a number of nieces and nephews.
