Kathleen Shipp McClellan,97, died peacefully at her home in Decatur, GA after a brief illness on September 21, 2013. She was the daughter of John Seabon Shipp and Lula Belle Howard Shipp of Greenville, GA. She married Everette R. McClellan in 1941 and worked as a secretary through the end of World War II. The family moved to Savannah in 1952 where she had an active life in civic, church and school-related activities as a member of the Exchangette Club of Savannah and of the First Christian Church. Following her husband's sudden death in 1964 she became a medical secretary and office manager for Dr. Fenwick Nichols. After retiring in 1982 she moved to Atlanta to be near her family. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn McClellan Self; her son, George E. McClellan; her granddaughter, Lauren E. Pearse (Ted); and two great-grandsons, Scott and Will Pearse, plus three nieces, two nephews, and their children and grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 24, from 1:00 - 3:00 pm, followed by the funeral at 3:00 pm at AS Turner Funeral Home in Decatur. Entombment will be in Savannah, GA at Hillcrest Abbey East on Wednesday, September 25. Those wishing to make donations in lieu of flowers may make them to the Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter of the American Red Cross.
