Kathryn Ferguson Henneberg, well-loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on May 3, 2007, after an extended illness. During the last days of her life, she was surrounded by her devoted family. Born in 1923, to the Reverend William Neicy Ferguson and Ruth Hall Ferguson, of Tennessee, she joined six step-siblings, whose mother had died earlier. Pauline, Louise, Margaret, Hazel, William, and Frances welcomed their new sister, Kathryn, who early in life became known as "Barne" to family and friends. The Reverend and Mrs. Ferguson had three more children, Andrew, Erma and Elbert. The close-knit family moved several times within the Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina and Louisiana area during Barne's childhood to follow her father's calling in his ministry. Barne was talented and scholarly. She excelled in her schooling and acted in many school and community plays. Immediately after she was graduated from high school, she was approached by the principal to teach. She did so, and later attended Northeast Louisiana State College to pursue further education. While teaching, Barne met her future husband, Robert Edwin Henneberg, who was enlisted in the U .S. Army. They corresponded during his overseas service and married upon his return in 1946. Over the span of their 60-year marriage, they had four children and eleven grandchildren. Barne completed her degree in English from Georgia State College with honors. She made many close friends there. Upon graduation, she taught briefly at a private high school and Decatur High School. She also worked the full time position of Director of Christian Education at Holy Trinity Parish for many years. She and Bob were very active in the church, serving in the choir and as chalice bearers for many years. Barne also served as a layreader during services as part of her stewardship to the church she loved. One of her proudest accomplishments was being instrumental in the development of and the fundraising for the Callenwolde Mansion, in the Emory neighborhood, to become the current center for Arts that it is today. She worked many months towards that project. Barne would not be happy if we omitted her many years of work and devotion to the Clan Fergusson Society of North America. She loved all of her friends and "relatives" in this organization and went yearly to the meetings, Scottish Games and gatherings. She served as a regional vice president, and later served as secretary for CFSNA. She also served as editor of "The Bee Line," the clan newsletter, for many years. Her presence there will be missed. She is preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings, except for her "little" brother, Ebb. She leaves behind her devoted husband and companion of over 60 years, Robert "Bob" Henneberg; her children: Daniel (Jackie) Henneberg, Jane (John) Berry, Mark (Kathy) Henneberg, and Anne Watson; her grandchildren: Molly, Robert, Amanda, William, John, Ed, Bill, Lauren, Jeff, Austin and Dylan. She also leaves behind her brother, Ebb, many loved nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 11, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, in Decatur, Georgia. Her ashes will be placed in the Chapel Garden there. She is at peace now and God's arms, free of pain. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Parish, or to a favorite charity. A. S. Turner & Sons
