Kay Nelson Dellinger

Passed in peace Sat. August 21, 2021 at the age of 74 in Cumming, GA. Kay was born October 15, 1946 in Decatur, GA to James and Kathryn Nelson. She grew up in Decatur in the family home on Melrose Avenue. As a girl, Kay was an active member of Oakhurst Baptist Church, where she met her lifelong best friends, Sharon Price and Janice Sailors. After graduating from Decatur High School in 1964, Kay attended college at Carson Newman College in TN, and later transferred to Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA where she graduated with a BA in Journalism in 1968 and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. After graduation, Kay went to work at what is now known as Bank of America, where she dedicated 39 years to the company and retired in 2007 as the VP of her department. Once retired, Kay devoted herself to caring for her mother until her passing in 2011. After a move to Cumming, GA in 2015, Kay became a member of Greater Heights Baptist Church where she proudly served as a member of the women’s auxiliary. She is survived by her younger sister, Sally Pitt, two children, Matthew and Kathryn Dellinger (Travis), and two beloved grandchildren, Denver and Lucy.
